The City of Penticton has an opportunity for an Economic Development Contractor for a one year term to start immediately.  Reporting to the Economic Development Officer, the successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that serves the business community.

Key responsibilities include:

Business attraction and retention activities
Implementation of labour market projects resulting from the 2015 Labour Market analysis
Resident recruitment activities
Liaison with regional and local organization to promote the growth and success of Penticton and the South Okanagan
Managing and execution of community market presence.  Engaging the public during events and trade shows, providing information on entrepreneurship, economic development, tourism and resources in the community
Improving and updating key economic information, marketing materials, area profile, brochures and web pages
Communicating with stakeholders via various media (website, e-newsletter, etc)
Assisting with project administration

The successful candidate will have:

Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing or Communications or an equivalent combination of education and experience ( a background in economic development or entrepreneurism preferred)
Office administration experience, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management etc.)
Experience with advertising and social media
Experience in basic design and layout is an asset (Publisher, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – reading, writing, listening and presentation skills
Ability to work independently
Willingness to work Saturdays from May to September and occasional evenings as needed
