Director of Financial Services – Village of Burns Lake

What you will be doing …
Reporting to the CAO, the Director of Finance works with council and staff to develop and oversee the annual three million dollar budget.
Creating the capital and five-year financial plans.
You will be the lead staff member for coordinating and compiling data for City Wide Asset Management System
You will mentor and supervise a small staff.
You be responsible for account reconciliations, journal entries and preparing accounting information for the auditors.
You will be responsible for providing department heads with current and accurate information to ensure budgets are adhered to.
Completing Council Reports as required. Council meetings are held bi-weekly, except in summer when there is one meeting per month.
You will be working with a fantastic group of people who get the job done in a friendly and fun environment.

Skills you need to succeed:
Either hold an accounting designation or be well on their way to completion OR practical experience in a similar role.
Municipal experience and familiarity with the Community Charter is an asset but not a necessity.
You need to work collaboratively with the CAO to complete annual requirements. Day-to-day municipal financial tasks will be your direct responsibility.
Ability to make solid financial decisions
