The City is looking to attract a progressive and accomplished finance professional to join our team as Director of Finance. Responsible for overseeing the operating functions of the Finance Department we are seeking candidates who can demonstrate innovative and effective financial and organizational leadership to ensure ongoing and improved financial sustainability for the City. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Finance is a key player in the senior management team, advising on financial decision-making across all areas of the City’s operations and long-term planning.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience in local government or a similar financial environment, be a member in good standing with CPA (CMA, CGA or CA), have the ability to motivate and empower staff contributing to a positive work environment and considerable knowledge of computer networks, IT and related software and security systems. We are looking for a motivated team player that understands the value in providing excellent customer service to the community and operating departments of the City. Our ideal candidate would be a strategic thinker, able to professionally communicate well-considered, accurate and innovative advice to City Council and staff and lead the annual budget and financial planning processes. The City values public participation and the successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment and understanding of the value of citizen participation in local government decision-making.
