Director of Finance
(Competition 15-12)

As a result of a retirement, we are seeking a Director of Finance.  The Director is responsible to the General Manager, Corporate Services and is accountable for the direction and control of the Finance Department including accounting, purchasing and stores, financial planning, and payroll and revenue services.

The incumbent is also responsible for providing advice, guidance, and direction on financial matters to Council and other senior staff, as well as acting as a City Financial Signing Officer. The Director of Finance is a key member of the Senior Management Team. The incumbent is also accountable for implementing and administering budgetary and expenditure and revenue control programs to ensure the City achieves its financial objectives.

Applicants must have certification in a recognized professional accounting designation such as CA, CGA, CMA, or CPA and 8 years progressively responsible related experience, including 4 years in a management supervisory role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Advanced training in local government administration and/or a strong depth of municipal finance experience would be an asset.
