Development Coordinator – Power To Be Adventure Therapy – Victoria, British Columbia

Overall Purpose: Power To Be Adventure Therapy Society (PTB) inspires youth and families in need of support to discover their limitless abilities through nature-based programs. The Development Coordinator’s primary purpose is to support the implementation of the Annual Development Plan and other fundraising activities. The fundamental responsibilities of the position include donor recognition, event support, and administration as it relates to fundraising including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system maintenance. Other key accountabilities include stewardship of corporate and individual giving, annual giving initiatives, event support/coordination and assisting with external communications.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATIONS – The Development Coordinator will:

Coordinate the administration activities related to fundraising and all donor recognition activities:
Maintain and oversee all CRM activities including coordination of progressive donor cultivation plan.
Produce weekly reports for the development and finance teams to monitor strategies, objectives and timelines.
Ensure adherence to PTB donor recognition policies including receipting, thank you cards and public recognition within prescribed timelines.
Coordinate the tracking of donations and donors via CRM system.
Protect and maintain the accuracy and confidentiality of all donor files.
Contribute to the completion of grant reports.
Support or coordinate events related to fundraising:
Provide support to third party fundraising events.
Support or coordinate the fundraising components of PTB events, such as auctions, team fundraising or sponsor recognition.
Participate in the development of event marketing and communications tools.
Assist with the stewardship of corporate and individual giving:
Assist with donor cultivation, proposals and stewardship activities.
Prospecting of new corporate and individual giving opportunities as directed.
Coordinate annual giving initiatives:
Develop and implement an annual giving plan including monthly donations, leadership giving and online giving.
Identify prospects for major giving within existing donor base.
Contribute to the development of communications tools and collateral as they relate to fundraising.
Assist with the marketing and communications of programs and PTB to community stakeholders as directed.
Attend and present at conferences, resource fairs and other events as directed.
Generate contact lists.
Adhere to PTB privacy policies and related legislation.
Monitor fund development trends, issues and regulatory requirements
Act as the initial point of contact for all email or telephone inquiries related to fundraising.
Ensure all initiatives and activities are consistent PTB’s mission, vision and values, and adhere to CRA guidelines, Code of Ethics of the AFP and Imagine Canada Ethical Code

PEOPLE – The Development Coordinator will:

Be a support to co-workers, volunteers and stakeholders; assist co-workers with their responsibilities in their absence as required.
Contribute to a positive and dynamic working culture congruent with PTB’s values.
Recruit, support and/or supervise volunteers as required.
Adhere to all PTB policies and procedures and applicable legislation as they relate staff and volunteer practices.

FINANCE – The Development Coordinator will:

Provide forecasting information to support the development of annual fundraising budget.
Adhere to the Annual Operating and Capital Expenditure Budgets.
Understand and implement proper fiscal controls.
Submit all documentation in a timely fashion.

PROGRAMS – The Development Coordinator will:

Adhere to Participant Protection Policies and Procedures.
At a minimum, support or observe a PTB program once per quarter.

GOVERNANCE – The Development Coordinator will:

Contribute to the development, monitoring and achievement of the Annual Development Plan and associated goals in support of the strategic plan and vision of PTB.
Act as a resource to the Advancement Committee as directed.
Support the development of fundraising policies and procedures.

OTHER – The Development Coordinator will:

Maintain a primary workspace within the Power To Be Victoria office.
Support workplace safety, wellness and security.
Performs other related duties, as required.

Particular Working Conditions: In consideration of the mission we serve, it is preferred that the Development Coordinator is a non-smoker and enjoys an active lifestyle. The position involves significant time spent at a computer/desk, occasional travel, and evening and weekend commitments. Working outside in inclement weather is required at times.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have an outstanding track record of two or more years in a fundraising environment. Must possess Post Secondary Education in Business, Communications or a related field, experience maintaining and overseeing a CRM system (preferably Salesforce), and a demonstrated knowledge of the regulatory requirements and best practices related to fundraising. Must have experience or proven interest working with a non-profit organization. Excellent communication and organizational skills are critical. Must be proficient in the use of computers including standard office software packages, CRM use, and Internet search tools. The ability to work both collaboratively and independently is required. Experiences working with people that live with a barrier, disability or other significant life challenge(s) or knowledge of outdoor pursuits are considered assets.

Compensation: $40,000 to $50,000 per annum based on experience plus a comprehensive benefits package
