Deputy Treasurer Financial Services – Columbia Shuswap Regional District

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD), with its office located in Salmon Arm, invites applications for the permanent full-time position of Deputy Treasurer, Financial Services.

This is a mid-level management position, reporting directly to the Manager, Financial Services. As an integral member of our dedicated and hard-working Financial Services team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration of the CSRD financial systems. The duties of this position are of a responsible, complex, diverse nature and include: provide strategic leadership and supervision of monthly and annual financial reports and analyses; perform statutory financial administrative functions in the absence of the Manager, Financial Services; manage subordinate staff and ensure provision of services in compliance with applicable Regional District bylaws, policies, statutory requirements and the collective agreement.

The preferred candidate will have the following formal education, training, and experience:
Post-secondary degree in business administration, commerce or a related field.
Chartered Professional Accountant designation
Valid BC Driver’s License.
Advanced computer literacy with software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook as well as accounting software (preferably Vadim).
Advanced proficiency Caseware Working Papers software (including Caseview).
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with people in a professional manner.
Familiarity with legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, and bylaws pertaining to the Regional District.
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational skills, time management and priority assessment skills.
Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills.
Knowledge of management and labour relations principles and practices.
Sound working knowledge of accounting procedures and practices, Regional District accounting, payroll, budget preparation, local government legislation and electronic information system operations.
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible relevant experience, preferably including experience in a local government setting.
Experience in management of staff, preferably in a unionized environment.
