The Town is looking for a detail oriented individual to perform administrative data management and accounting work in relation to the payroll function. The incumbent will assist the Clerk Senior Payroll with a variety of payroll related information to ensure accurate distribution of funds and payroll to all Town employees. The work may also include duties related to accounts payable and/or receivable and may provide generalized support to other roles within the department.
As this is a casual position, the ideal candidate must have the flexibility to work within the range of the Town’s administrative operating hours of 8:30am-4:30pm, as required.
Job Requirements:
Successful completion of a post-secondary Accounting and Payroll Administration program or other similar post-secondary program with a concentration in payroll;
A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience in a computerized environment using an automated payroll software system such as Microsoft Dynamics GP, ADP, Ceridian or PeopleSoft;
Aptitude and willingness to train in Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) courses and become a member in good standing;
Advanced level of knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook) required;
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills and effective communication with peers, supervisors and the general public in a tactful, diplomatic and professional manner;
Ability to understand and follow payroll procedures and payroll related forms;
Ability to respond to a variety of situations with a calm and steady demeanor;
Ability to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner;
Ability to demonstrate sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritizing and execution skills;
Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of data entry accuracy;
Flexibility to work approximately 20-25 hours per week, between 8:30am-4:30pm.
This position is represented by CUPE Local 2162. Salary is according to the collective agreement.
