Position Description:
Supervision and management of accounting staff in all financial areas including reception.
Coordinate and prepare the annual audit process with external auditors. The process includes completing the working paper files and draft financial statements.
Preparation of annual budget in conjunction with the Director for presentation to Council.
Manage monthly closing process including supervision of reconciliations in various sub ledgers.
Management of tangible capital assets.
Monthly financial reporting and variance analysis.
Prepare financial analysis as required and monitor financial activities within the general ledger.
Assist with property tax assessment reconciliations.
Other financial and supervisory duties as required.

Hours of Work:
This is a full time, in scope, non-union, salary position with 35 hour work week, Monday – Friday, with some evenings and weekends as required.

Requirements and Qualifications:
Diploma or degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
An accounting designation – CPA, CMA or CGA is preferred. Equivalent experience may also be considered.
Equivalent experiences may be considered.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in finance, specifically in accounting, financial analysis and reporting.
Exceptional supervisory and management skills and ability to lead and supervise a team of staff.
Proficient in GAAP and PSAB requirements.
Strong accounting skills, proficiency and familiarity with general accounting, accounts payables, receivables, payroll, property taxes and utility billing processes.
Experience in Municipal or Government accounting is a strong asset.
Must be proficient in MS Office, particularly in Excel and Accounting Software.
Preference in experience with Diamond Municipal Software.
