As our company continues to change and grow we are seeking a qualified individual to contribute to our on-going success in our new role of Controller.
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance you will oversee the accounting operations of the Inland Group, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, managing of accounts payables and receivables, cash management, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises.
Essential duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Supervising the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives and providing appropriate assistance, training and development to accounting staff;
Issuing timely, accurate and complete monthly financial statements on both consolidated and individual entity levels;
Managing the production of the annual budget and periodic forecasts;
Preparing Quarterly Board reports and ad hoc reporting as required;
Maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures;
Maintaining a system of controls over accounting transactions, including documenting approvals and reconciling all balance sheet accounts;
Managing the cost control accounting systems;
Ensuring prompt collection of accounts receivable;
Ensuring timely and efficient payment of accounts payable;
Monitoring of bank balances and forecasting cash flow requirements;
Coordinating the provision of information to internal and external auditors as required;
Complying with all federal, state, or local government reporting requirements and tax filings;
Preparing and maintaining transfer price documentation for all cross border transactions, including annual summary reporting; and,
Preparing information required for external preparation of tax return submissions and calculation of tax installment payments.
As the ideal candidate you have 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation, including supervision of accounting staff, and supported by a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience. Preference will be given to candidates holding a Certified Public Accountant designation or equivalent.
