The District of Wells, one of B.C.’s smallest municipalities, nestled in the Cariboo Mountains near such famous tourism destinations as Barkerville Historic Town and Bowron Lakes Provincial Park, requires a unique individual to fill the position of Chief Administrative Officer. Responsible to the Mayor and Council for the effective management of the municipality, the position incorporates the statutory duties and responsibilities of both the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Corporate Officer requiring a high level of knowledge and proficiency in both realms. In addition, a practical knowledge of and/or experience in municipal planning, public works, and economic development would also be an asset. This is a hands-on working position and along with managing the municipality, the incumbent will also be responsible for performing many of the day-to-day financial and corporate operations of the District.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant combination of experience and education preferably with a degree or certification in Public Administration or a related discipline and at least four years progressive experience working in a B.C. municipality at a management level in a corporate, financial or administrative position. You will be creative and routinely think “outside the box”. You will be the type of person who places value on tangible results and enjoys the challenges and rewards of living in a small community.
