Are you interested in supporting the protection of farmland in Ontario? Do you have fundraising, finance and investment, communications, or real estate law experience? Consider joining the dedicated team of volunteer Board members at the Ontario Farmland Trust (OFT). OFT is a registered charity and part of the Ontario Land Trust Alliance.
The Ontario Farmland Trust’s volunteer Board of Directors is responsible for effective governance, fiduciary care, and management of the organization. The Board sets priorities and direction for organizational and program development and guides and oversees the work of the organization, carried out by the Executive Director, part-time staff, and volunteers.
Currently, there are openings for new Directors, and we are seeking new expertise to enhance capacity of the organization. Director positions are for renewable terms up to three years.
Directors are asked to:
Be committed to the mission and work of the Ontario Farmland Trust;
Promote and support OFT’s programs and services;
Participate in events (e.g. annual Farmland Forum);
Support fundraising activities;
Attend bi-monthly board meetings; and
Serve on at least one committee (Fundraising Committee, Policy and Education Committee, or Land Securement & Stewardship Committee)
The time commitment for Directors is around 4-8 hours per month.
