Position Overview: This is the ideal career opportunity for someone who is seeking to make meaningful and direct impacts in the community through the use of their strategic planning, project management and leadership skills. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with many talented people within our organization and in the community, to develop and implement the Town’s fixed asset and asset-risk management programs, which serve to enhance citizens’ quality of life through the creation of sustainable community infrastructure models. This position will provide you with autonomy, as you will be required to take the lead on a diversity of projects with minimal supervision. This role will be assigned many high priority projects, so the successful applicant will have the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the organization and lead projects through to completion. As you seek to tackle this diverse portfolio of challenging projects , you will have the opportunity to build upon program development skills in many areas of asset management such as; implementation of the asset management software, completion of the asset management registry and inventory database, development and implementation of policies, procedures, programs and systems, and then lead the operational administration of the program. In addition, you will be able to cultivate your leadership skills as you consult, advise, coach and mentor asset managing business units to ensure understanding and compliance with asset management practices, principles and legislation which is crucial to our long term success. Attributes: You are an engaged leader, creative problem solver and strategic thinker who is highly results orientated and you thrive on managing a diverse portfolio of technical and detailed projects. You are driven to understand problems fully in order to find the most successful and appropriate long term resolution, and have developed the ability to identify and mobilize key people and resources in order to tackle a technical problem from a variety of angles. You are a positive, effective communicator, who listens actively and has the ability to motivate a team and cultivate collaborative, effective relationships. To be the best fit for this position, you have a genuine interest and some previous experience with project management, program development, finance and risk management. With 5+ years of related asset management or information systems experience under your belt, you have developed excellent detail orientation and administration skills and are not afraid to tackle challenging and complex technical projects, provide advice, guidance and recommendations to council or to communicate in a public forum. You will have the opportunity to further develop your exceptional analytical, organizational, communication and data management skills with the diverse projects you will take a lead on in this role. Post-Secondary education or certification in Finance, Engineering ( Engineer or CET), Environmental Science, Economics, Planning, Real Estate and/or Asset Management will help you to be successful in this role.
