Accounts Payable Clerk

The City of Nanaimo is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk.  Under the general supervision of the Manager, Accounting Services, the incumbent is responsible for the timely processing of accounts payable, ensuring all source documents conform to City policies and procedures. The incumbent will process vendor invoices, generate cheque runs and reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned and will perform other duties as required, including year-end assignments.

Completion of Grade 12 is required as well as four introductory accounting/finance courses at a recognized College or University (equivalent to ACCT 100 (Financial Accounting I) and ACCT 201 (Financial Accounting II) and ACCT 294 (Intro to Cost and Managerial Accounting) and FNCE 130 (Intro to Finance) at VIU).  Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This is a unionized position, $30.14 per hour – after Probation (Jan 2015 Rate), based on a 35‑hour work week.  A comprehensive benefit package is included.
