Accounting Technician – Regional District of Central Kootenay – Nelson, BC

The RDCK has a budget of $58 million, employs 300+ staff and contractors, and 325 volunteer fire fighters representing 17 fire departments.

The Accounting Technician is a member of the Finance Team and will draw on a well developed financial accounting skillset to perform a variety of accounting tasks to assist and support the Finance Department in their work.

Required Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Include, But are Not Limited to:

Completion of Accounting Degree and three (3) years of mid level finance experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience
Accounting experience in a Local Government environment preferred
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast paced environment
Demonstrated ability to critically analyze data and interpret information
Ability to understand and carry out established accepted procedure
Ability to work with a variety of financial software systems
Proven team player with excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills
