The Town of Qualicum Beach is seeking applications for the permanent full-time position of Accounting Clerk, with an emphasis on payroll.
Duties include:
Accurate and timely preparation, calculation and completion of payroll for all municipal staff using a computerized payroll system, including daily processing of timesheets
Administration of employee benefits programs
Completing and reconciling the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, including the Municipal Pension Plan, WorkSafeBC, and CUPE
Accounting tasks including preparing and posting journal entries and account reconciliation
Assisting with accounts payable, front desk coverage and cash receipting
Other duties as assigned
Preferred qualifications include:
Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by accounting courses and/or a business program
Able to multi-task and deliver under pressure with tight deadlines
Able to work as a part of a team as well as independently
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Experience with payroll and/or completion of an accredited payroll program would be an asset
Note: an equivalent combination of education, experience, and knowledge will be considered if deemed acceptable by the employer.
The terms and conditions of employment are covered by the CUPE Local 401 Collective Agreement. The hourly rate of pay will be $31.26 – $32.03 per hour, based on the level of skills, education and experience as determined by the employer. A probation period will apply to this position. Successful applicants will be expected to work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30 pm.
