Accounting Administrator
This position reports to the Controller and is responsible for the complete accounts payable and accounts receivable processing cycles. Therefore, the Accounting Administrator analyzes, posts, and prepares cheques for vendor invoices, employee expenses, and credit card purchases. He/She also prepares, posts and distributes contribution and sales invoices and credit adjustments to member and other client accounts, which may include grantors and sponsors. In addition, he/she prepares, posts, and deposits payments received from these clients. The position operates with limited supervision for routine work and is able to identify when direction is required. Other duties include: supports the annual audit and the annual budgeting and forecasting cycles. Assists the Database Administrator by ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the membership information. Other duties as assigned from time-to-time by the Controller.
The Accounting Administrator ensures the timely and accurate maintenance of the accounting information for the Society and Liability Claims Fund. This position requires a very high level of attention to detail, technical competence, and discretion. The Accounting Administrator should have:
Grade 12 and a Diploma in Accounting or Business Administration
3–5 years relevant experience or suitable combination of education and experience
Accurate, attention to detail
Thorough knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping and customer service practices.
Experience with computer-based accounting systems
Ability to work with multiple priorities and responsiveness
Good interpersonal and strong organizational skills
Ability to work under minimum supervision
Good communication skills – oral and written
