Our Client located in Markham, Ontario has an immediate opening for an Accountant
Responsibilities
• Monthly Manufacturing overhead reporting including analysis of variances to budget and forecast
• Perform timely and thorough financial analyses and provide explanation of key financial indicators
• Support Manufacturing and Product Development business cases – Return on Investment analysis
• Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering leadership team
• Participate and make recommendations for cost reduction initiatives
• Support the annual Manufacturing budgeting process and preparation of the quarterly forecast
• Prepare and present ad hoc analysis and summaries, as required
• Comply with all company and financial policies and procedures
• Calculation and periodic assessment of Other Direct Cost charge-out rates to commercial projects
• Support periodic inventory counts and associated financial adjustments
• Support Maintenance and analysis of inventory, including calculation and implementation of inventory burdening rates
• Validation of inventory provisions
• Perform month end accrual entries (as needed)
• Fixed asset capitalization, depreciation policies, and assessment for impairment
• Assess capitalization criteria of product development expenditures
Requirements
• Relevant degree from a university of recognized standing and an Accounting designation (CGA/CMA/CA/MBA)
• 2+ years of experience as a Manufacturing/Cost/Financial analyst supporting a manufacturing entity
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and demonstrate behaviour that reflects ethics, professionalism and respect
• Ability to understand the accounting impact of any financial transaction
• High level of technical competence and initiative
• Detail oriented and organized
• Innovative, proactive, and self-directed
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
